While browsing through Quora, I came across a very interesting question about – “What do you really enjoy about dancing”… I thought about it for quite some time and finally realised that for me, dancing is a way to express yourself. When I first started dancing, I used to feel quite awkward dancing in front of others, but as you continue with it, you realise that the initial odd looks from onlookers turn into appreciation over time.
Dancing is a way to express myself and fully enjoy the music I hear. I prefer partner dancing (since I’m not so skilled in other forms of single dancing such as contemporary, ballet, hip-hop etc…). The better you get though, there is a bit of an ego boost where the attention draw from onlookers is appreciated. You get to show-off a little too!
Of course you have to always push yourself and try to get better – I saw this in one of the dance studios I was in one day which made perfect sense about you vs you.

Dancing is something different – a lot of guys in Mumbai don’t do it.. That’s why I love it, pushes me out of my comfort zone 🙂
Honestly, I like dancing because you get to see progress in yourself – over time. It starts off with two left feet, then two normal feet, and finally two normal feet that can move on beat! You can go for different dance socials and meet a wide variety of folks from different walks of life – really shifts your perspective! Then there are the girls that are enthralled by your dance ability (because for some reason most guys prefer to sit at the bar at weddings, leaving the dancer guys with all the fun). There are competitions and practice situations where you get to see more progress in terms of refinement of posture and perfection of combinations.
From the fun POV – for me it’s a skill that you can always have in your backpocket. Kinda like how if you can play the guitar & happen to be at a bonfire with a random guitar… you can use it if you need to..
